Beginning in the 1990s, Gordon Nagai has spoken to grade school students about his experiences as an American born in California who was imprisoned during World War II at Amache, an internment camp for Japanese Americans located in Granada, Colorado. In 2008, he adapted his talk for adults and now speaks throughout Oregon to all sorts of groups.
